FMCSA Issues Guidance to Organizations and Businesses Transporting

To clarify existing regulations, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued guidance today to organizations and businesses transporting passengers in interstate commerce.

In publishing the regulatory guidanceFMCSA is requesting comments (next 60 days) from the public.  Comments can be submitted at (FMCSA-2016-0352).

We frequently receive inquiries here at UMA regarding whether certain types of organizations can provide interstate charter service and if they are regulated. This information should go a long way towards providing regulatory guidance to the various modes of travel. We urge you to review the guidance, share your insight with UMA, and submit constructive comments to FMCSA

FMCSA Assistant Administrator & Chief Safety Officer, Jack Van Steenburg, has agreed to speak at the State Association Summit during the 2017 UMA Motorcoach EXPO in St. Louis and will provide important updates regarding the newly published guidance as well as other related topics.
