(Alexandria, VA) Raymond Martinez, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will speak at the United Motorcoach Association’s Motorcoach EXPO, January 6, in Fort Lauderdale. The administrator will address UMA’s State Association Summit—a gathering of state and regional motorcoach association leaders convened annually by UMA.
The summit takes place on Sunday, January 6, from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. EXPO runs from January 6-10.
“We are so pleased to be able to host Administrator Martinez next month during EXPO,” said UMA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner. “Our members rely upon his agency’s guidance and expertise to operate safely and within the law and I look forward to the opportunity for him to hear operator perspectives during our State Association Summit and for our operators to hear from, and meet, the administrator.
The Future of the Motorcoach Industry will roll into Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 6-10, 2019. Nearly 2000 motorcoach industry professionals will gather in the Broward County Convention Center for education, celebration and innovation at the most comprehensive industry trade show and education event in North America. The UMA EXPO offers the largest display of the newest motorcoaches for private operators, innovative products and services for the bus industry, and targeted education designed for professional bus operators and their staff.
EXPO offers more than two dozen educational Solution Sessions presented by expert speakers, features classes by vendors in the exhibit hall and a keynote address by unconventional entrepreneur Scott Stratten.
Motorcoach drivers and mechanics will also be at EXPO to compete for cash and prizes. The UMA International Driver Competition pits the top drivers in North America against one another as they test their knowledge and their driving skills on a nearby course. The competition will be livestreamed into the exhibit hall for all to see. And the Maintenance Competition among mechanics will take place on the show floor for the first time ever. There will be a nearby viewing area allowing attendees to see the action.
Winners of both competitions will be recognized at the UMA Leadership Awards Celebration and Dinner on Tuesday night, January 8, 2019. In addition, two motorcoach operators will also be celebrated that night with the association’s highest honor: The Vision Award. The evening’s events will be elevated again this year thanks to a professional emcee, Brian Walter, who will add humor and excitement to the celebration, along with a few surprises.
The UMA Motorcoach Expo is the largest gathering of motorcoach operators in North America, bringing together nearly 2,000 bus and motorcoach industry professionals annually. Events include competitions for motorcoach drivers and mechanics, multiple networking opportunities, a show floor featuring the latest products and services, and an educational program designed to address all bus and motorcoach business operations.
