What is Buffalo Niagara Border Planner?
Border Planner is a new advanced port arrival scheduling program for charter buses, tours, and motor coaches in the Buffalo Niagara region. Through the voluntary use of an online data portal, companies may submit the date, time, number and citizenship of passengers, in order to better coordinate arrivals and forecast staffing requirements more accurately at area border crossings. This program is being administered by the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (PBA), the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission (NFBC), and border services agencies.
What are the benefits?
The Border Planner program helps alleviate bus and motor coach congestion at the border by coordinating the arrival times of participating companies. By alerting border services agencies of an impending arrival, the agencies can adjust staffing at respective bus processing areas for maximum efficiency. This helps reduce traffic congestion, while also saving time for travelers. Participation is voluntary; though, it is highly encouraged! *Note that participation may not always result in expedited crossings.
