  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 10, 2008 FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: Mark Gedris 800.424.8262 2009 Intercity Bus Security Grants AnnouncementFor Tier II applicants (most charter operators fall in this category), the minimum amount that may be requested for projects focused on training and/or exercises is $5,000. There is no minimum amount for vulnerability assessments or security plan development. The minimum amount that may be requested for other projects is $25,000. Allowable costs also include “facility security enhancements that focus on lighting, fencing, securing gates, door access codes, cameras, etc. All details are contained in the “Intercity Bus Security Grant Program Guidance and Application Kit” available by clicking here. The Department of Homeland Security will be holding weekly teleconferences to answer questions.
Also, DHS will be hosting a workshop on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 at the Residence Inn located at 550 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA 22202. The Residence Inn is very convenient to Reagan National Airport, Metro’s blue and yellow lines, and TSA Headquarters. The workshop will cover topics such as funding priorities, scoring methodology, how to complete and submit an application, and other timelines and processes. The workshop will begin at 10 am and last approximately 4 hours. Operators who plan to attend should RSVP by sending an email to TSAGrants@tsa.gov. If you have questions outside of the workshop and conference calls, please direct them to AskCSID@dhs.gov and TSAGrants@tsa.gov.
