2016 UMA Capitol Hill Days


April 12 & 13, 2016 | Washington, DC

All UMA members are invited and encouraged to participate in UMA’s Capitol Hill Days on April 12 & 13, 2016. This is your opportunity to come to Washington, DC to interact with your Congressional delegates and important agency officials and make sure your voice is heard.

Owners and senior management from bus and motorcoach companies from around the nation will gather to meet with their Congressional elected officials to discuss the industry's most pressing legislative issues.

Your individual appointments are being scheduled for you with your U.S. State Senators and/or House Representative. Your appointment times will be given to you at the Legislative Briefing and Capitol Hill Training on Tuesday afternoon at the Holiday Inn Capitol. If you are unable to attend the briefing, your appointments will be distributed at 7:00 am in the Launch to the Hill meeting the morning of April 13th at the Holiday Inn Capitol.

Additionally, your packets at registrations will include handouts that are a summary of the topics you discussed to leave with each House Member/Senator and/or staff.  

Things to Remember:

  • Dress attire for the Capitol Hill Day is business professional (coat & tie or suit).
  • Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella in case of inclement weather.
  • Also, remember to bring your business cards to hand out at your scheduled appointments.

Important: If your plans change and you are NOT able to attend the Capitol Hill Day or a scheduled appointment, please notify UMA staff immediately at 1.800.424.8262. Unattended scheduled meetings do not reflect well on the association and the industry.

*These discounted rates are what the attendee is responsible for and reflect UMA’s subsidy.

Both properties are accessible by Metro and provide complimentary wifi.  Availability for both properties is first come first served. Transportation to offsite events will be provided.

To encourage member participation, UMA is subsidizing part of the hotel cost for attendees of the event.  The discounted group rates for attendees are stated above. This subsidized rate is reserved for UMA Capitol Hill Attendees only. 

If you submitted a hotel reservation form, you should have received an email with your confirmation number. Please contact the UMA office at 1.800.424.8262 if you didn't receive one and we will re-send yours.


Please note the subsidized rate is only for Tuesday and Wednesday nights over the event. UMA is unable to subsidize longer stays.


You are strongly encouraged to fly into Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) as it is the most convenient airport to downtown Washington, DC and has easy Metro access (located on the Blue/Yellow line). UMA's host hotels are approximately 5 miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport. This is about a 15 minute cab ride that will cost about $25-$30. Metro is also a possibility and will take you 20-30 minutes. The Holiday Inn Capitol is a few blocks from L'Enfant Plaza Station (Yellow Line) and the Capitol Hill Hotel is a few blocks from Capitol South Metro (Blue/ Orange Line). Other airports flying into the Washington, DC area include Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). Both of these airports are about 45 - 75 minutes away from downtown Washington DC.

L'Enfant Plaza metro stop is located 0.1 miles (3 minute walk) from Holiday Inn Hotel. 

Capitol South metro stop is located 0.2 miles (3 minute walk) from the Capitol Hill Hotel.
