![]() The Motorcoach Operator/Driver Program Learners who successfully complete the five courses in the Motorcoach Operator/Driver Program will receive an Certificate of Academic Achievement in Motorcoach Operation. Safe Driving Course Description: This course explores safe driving procedures under normal and special conditions, off-road vehicle handling and in-depth case studies in safety as related to the motorcoach industry. After completing this course, students will be familiar with safe driving practices, understand the importance of various road conditions, and be able to analyze various driving scenarios to develop the critical thinking skills needed to handle on-road and off-road situations. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course. Course Offered: 01/11/12, 07/11/12 Driver Qualifications Course Description: This course provides an overview of the motorcoach industry, information about typical company rules and policies, an overview of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the motorcoach industry. Other topics include personal health for the motorcoach operator, issues of driver fatigue and hours of service. After completing this course, students will be familiar with laws and regulations applicable to the motorcoach industry, will understand how to track hours of service, and develop strategies to deal with driver fatigue issues. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course. Course Offered: 01/11/12, 04/11/2012, 10/11/2012 Passenger Issues Course Description: This course provides an overview of passenger issues, such as transporting baggage and passengers, including special needs passengers, special considerations for school busses, transit considerations, and issues of customer service and customer care relevant to the motorcoach operator. After completing this course, students will be familiar with basic customer service considerations and special customer service situations relevant to the motorcoach industry. Students will also learn how to de-fuse difficult customer service situations. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course. Course Offered: 01/11/12, 07/11/12, 10/11/12 Security Course Description: This course provides an overview OPSEC requirements, guidelines and procedures relevant to the driver, including crisis response and the Highway Watch Program. After completing this program, students will be familiar with the requirements of the Highway Watch Program and understand how to implement Highway Watch Program recommended processes and practices. Students will also learn how to increase the security of their motorcoach and maintenance spaces, as well as how to handle security-related situations. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course. Course Offered: 04/11/12, 07/11/12 Vehicle Maintenance Course Description: This course provides an opportunity to become familiar with motorcoach equipment and its usage, procedures to follow in the event of a breakdown or emergency, and explores the area of fuel economy relevant to the motorcoach operator. After completing this course, students will understand the importance of various motorcoach characteristics, understand how to make a vehicle inspection and how to handle emergency situations. Students will also develop strategies to enhance fuel economy. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.
