The Clarence Cornell School of Business

Learners who succesfully complete the five courses in the Clarence Cornell School of Business will receive an Accredited Passenger Transportation Operator designation.

Financial Management
Course Description: This course explores the intricacies of financing your motorcoach business, basics of finance and accounting, software to assist with your accounting and the basics of federal income tax accounting. Upon completing this course, students will be able to perform basic accounting functions using popular accounting software tools, understand the basics of federal income tax accounting and will understand how to set up accounts to simplify the accounting and tax accounting processes. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.

Business & Marketing I
Course Description: This course provides the materials needed to start your motorcoach business right and keep it running smoothly. Even if you already own your business, the topics in this course will help you keep your business on track. Topics include building your business plan, basic business law, basic marketing, and business ethics. Upon completing this course, students will have developed a draft business plan, a draft business marketing plan, and will understand the basic tenets of business ethics. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.

Business & Marketing II
Course Description: This course provides an opportunity to become familiar with grant applications, job costing & estimating, customer service, cost control, insurance and risk management for the motorcoach industry. Upon completing this course, students will be able to prepare comprehensive cost estimate, determine return on investment, and develop cost control plans. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.

Safety & Compliance
Course Description: This course explores issues of safety and regulatory compliance specifically for the motorcoach industry. Topics include driver compliance issues, inspection and maintenance, security, SafeStat and safety ratings, and general regulatory compliance. After completing this course, students will be familiar with safety ratings, understand how to develop safety plans, and understand requirements for tracking and reporting safety-related issues. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.

Human Resources
Course Description: This course provides an overview of issues related to the human resources who participate in the motorcoach business. Topics include: managing hours of service; employment law; employee relations and practice; recruiting, hiring, retaining and training personnel; and compensation and benefits. After completing this course, students will understand the basics of employment law, develop plans for tracking hours of service, and be able to develop a human resources plan. You will have seven weeks to complete this course. It is expected to take a minimum of 20 hours to complete this course.

As head of ABC Bus until his retirement in 1997, Clancy had a vision of consistently contributing to his community and to the industry as a whole, a message that will be continued through the Bus & Motorcoach Academy School named, through the thoughtful donations of ABC Companies and the Cornell Family, in his honor.
