DC Traffic and Parking Restrictions
If you will be traveling within Washington, DC April 12-14, please note that due to a Nuclear Security Summit there will be several street closures and
restricted parking in the areas around the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Traffic in the entire area is expected to be disrupted, so please plan
accordingly.
Additionally, the 30 bus parking spaces normally available at the City Center Parking Lot will not be accessible during that time frame. Other locations
have been identified in the city. For more information, visit the DDOT Web site here.
UMA Fights Senator Murray Amendment
Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) placed an amendment in the recent Department of Transportation appropriations bill that exempts King County Metro Transit in the state of Washington from the charter rule issued by the Federal Transit Administration. The exemption from the charter rule afforded King County Metro Transit—the only authority in the nation exempted—means that King County Metro is now competing with private bus companies using Federal subsidies.
We strongly believe Sen. Murray's amendment is harmful public policy. Senator Murray and her staff have heard from us—now we want her to hear from you directly. Tell Senator Murray to reverse this harmful amendment and put the private bus companies back to work. Sen. Murray’s office can be contacted toll-free at (866) 481-9186, fax: (202) 224-0238 or email.
